Raspberry Suite #8


Dawn's most recent challenge stretched me a bit. I'm not a huge fan of cream with bright colors (I'd rather use a crisp white), but I really like how my card turned out. I hope you do, too.
I traced a big Maya Road flower onto Raspberry Fizz cardstock, then cut it out. It took me a while to get the center just right--lots of experiments later, and this is what won out. The ribbon's knot is the center of the flower, and I tucked in some cut pieces of ribbon for the "tails". You can't tell I cheated, right? :) I also don't have Vintage Cream ink, so I used Fresh Snow and pounced it with a little bit of yellow chalk pastel to soften the brightness.

    I thought I felt someone pouncing this weekend. :) Bwaaahaaahaa!!! Couldn't resist. We all have those little card making tricks, I don't think of it as 'cheating' unless you entered it into a 4-H contest and beat out some cute little six year old or something . . . okay, I should walk away from the computer now, I think I'm punchy. :) Very nice card. And thanks for the link to the video on your blog on creating, very encouraging.

Erin Lee Creative January Release

ELC Look On the Bright Side Kit

Hi friends,  Erin Lee Creative has a fantastic new kit today which coordinates with the previously-released Somewhere Kit .  It's called Look On the Bright Side , and it has a die, stencil and stamp sets with the most perfect sentiments for encouragement cards.  There is also a rainbow alphabet set available as an add-on.   Join us in our blog hop today and comment to enter for a giveaway (see below). My first card uses the rainbow burst stencil.  I pounced white ink through the stencil, then I used Polychromos pencils to color over the white ink.  This technique allows the color to stand out on dark cardstock.  Of course I had to add a little shine and glitter, so I colored over parts of the rainbow and rays with a shimmer pen.
