Playing with backgrounds

Crafty retreats are the best!  I recently stayed with some really lovely women for a few days, and we crafted, ate, laughed and laughed some more.  One of the perks of crafting with friends is sharing their stuff.  I borrowed this Simon Says Stamp Elizabeth background stamp and had fun with different techniques.


First up is heat embossing in white on Bristol Smooth cardstock, then coloring with Zig Clean Color Markers.

 Here's a closeup:

 Next is the same layout, but with Distress Ink blending.

 Then we have heat embossing in white, then Copic coloring over the top.  I usually don't go this bold, but I thought I'd try it out.

Last is basic heat embossing in silver, with a sentiment strip.

For this month's Hop, we are to pay homage to a member of PTI's Design Team. They are all so very talented! I chose a recent project by the amazing Debbie Olson . I loved her simple design with white embossed violets on Raspberry Fizz, with a few little details sprinkled in--sparkly centers, a scored edge and rounded corners. Just beautiful! I actually copied this card exactly, because it was so easy, but then I decided to change it up a bit. Here is my version in Enchanted Evening, with the smaller flowers. May Blog Hop.

This month we were challenged to use yellow.  It doesn't seem like it would be that hard, but for some reason, it can be.  I do love the combination of Berry Sorbet and Lemon Tart, so I stamped the big flower from PTI's Everyday Classics  in Berry Sorbet on white, then cut it out.  The small flowers are stamped in SU Ruby Red and popped up on dimensionals.  For the leaves, I used the wings from the birds in that set.  Enjoy! Lil' Inker Designs Mini Release Blog Hop
