Papertrey Year of Flowers

I love, love, love PTI's Year of Flowers: Violets!  I am so very excited about the announcement that there will be dies available very soon!  I can't tell you how many times I have hand cut those things.

Today's card uses an idea from Debbie Olson, many moons ago, who made a background by embossing these repeated images.  I have loved doing the same thing with both the big and small flowers.  The line images are just beautiful, and the contrast on bright cardstock is great.  I just rounded the corners of the panel, colored in the circles to repeat the black, and added the sentiment and some ribbon.  LOVE how the oval from the Simply Jane dies (or the oval layers, too) fits right inside this Fillable Frames #10 die!

    Very pretty card and love the idea of embossing all the background flowers and you're right it just "pops" on the background color, nice job.

For this month's Hop, we are to pay homage to a member of PTI's Design Team. They are all so very talented! I chose a recent project by the amazing Debbie Olson . I loved her simple design with white embossed violets on Raspberry Fizz, with a few little details sprinkled in--sparkly centers, a scored edge and rounded corners. Just beautiful! I actually copied this card exactly, because it was so easy, but then I decided to change it up a bit. Here is my version in Enchanted Evening, with the smaller flowers. I didn't have the right color buttons, so I made a little fancy ribbon edge. The sparkles are flat rhinestone stickers. Best $1.99 I've spent in a while! Thanks for the inspiration, Debbie! July Blog Hop

This month's Blog Hop challenge was to use text as a background. I haven't done that in a while. I chose to use the script paper from Raspberry Fizz patterned paper, and I went crazy and made two cards. Yahoo. For this first card, I traced a Maya Road flower, knotted a piece of ribbon and poked it through a hole in the center. The New Leaf ribbon is just looped a little and adhered to itself. This second card didn't turn out quite as well as I had envisioned, but it works fine. It's for a friend of mine, and I just wanted to have a bunch of different kinds of hearts to represent different personalities.
