Papertrey Project Faves

It's PTI Anniversary time, which means daily challenges and all kinds of fun.  This challenge is to CASE a card by one of PTI's Design Team--each of them chose 6 of their own favorites.  I was surprised to find that my eye kept going to Melissa Phillips' card in the top, left corner.  Shabby chic is her specialty, and shabby chic I am most definitely not.  Not a speck of foof is found on my cards, because I am completely inept.  BUT, her color combination is just gorgeous, and I loved her composition.

I am not much of a button girl, but I did have some chipboard buttons cut from PTI's button die, and I swiped my inkpad over the twine to make it Aqua Mist.  I also stamped off the "friend" in Canyon Clay so it would be a bit softer.  I love these colors together!

Let me tell you what happened with this card(s).  I made a card with the original proportions, and I loved the look, but I thought there was too much white space on top.  So I rounded the top corners, which made it look like a bad haircut.  Then I thought some faux stitching with a marker would do the trick, and I just ruined it.  I can't even do faux foof!  So I scrapped it and started again with a wider patterned strip.  I don't like it quite as well as the thinner one, but I thought I should quit while I was ahead.

Paper: PTI Vintage Cream, Canyon Clay, Melon Berry, Aqua Mist, Ocean Tides
Ink: PTI Canyon Clay, Ocean Tides, Aqua Mist
Stamps: PTI Rosie Posie, Friends 'Til the End
Other: PTI Beautiful Blooms 2 dies, Button die, Sending You die, ribbon from stash, twine, dimensional tape, corner rounder

  1. This is so pretty. You did a great job of taking something of Melissa's and making it your own. The result is very clean looking, and pretty.

One of the things I love most about this hobby is that it is inherently kind.  So what could be better than a stamp that encourages even more kindness?  Such a great sentiment! This stamp is easy to use as the focal point of a card...so easy, in fact, that I made 4 right out of the gate!  Each one uses a different technique--this stamp is so versatile. For my first, I heat embossed the sentiment in white on steel grey cardstock.  I then colored over the...
